Spaces Experiences
Bringing people together through physical social media
Why we do what we do
Changing how we come together, connect, share, and remember defines us who we are. That’s why at Spaces Experiences, we ask the question: how can we bring people together? And bring them together in ways that are enjoyable, meaningful, and memorable.
We create products, services, and experimental projects that aim to let people engage with the world around them. Our goal is to create great shared experiences and to help people remember the lives they’ve lived.
How we have been doing it
Figuring out how we can bring people together through the experiences that we offer has been a rewarding and thoughtful journey so far. These highlights show the experiments we’ve done and the prototypes we’ve made.
Otof creates a new way for you to remember your life. It combines the accessibility of your phone with the emotional value of having physical photographs. Through the Otof.app, you can make a limited amount of photos in a month, which you'll receive printed at your doorstep. It's that easy!
The Pop-Up summer pilot was our first attempt to create a physical social media experience. By allowing people to engage with the space through the use of their phones, such as sharing favorite photos, we brought people together in a new way. An estimated 1800 people have visited.
At the Dutch Design Week, we presented the second version of Spaces Arts, our first interactive product that brings people together through the creation of music and virtual art. It is explorative, playful, and surprising. At the DDW we
welcomed about 1500 people.
24 & 25 September, Spaces presented its first version of Spaces Arts. This version was similar to the second version, but didn't have the music feature, yet. At the Maker Faire we welcomed about 500 people, especially kids.
This experiment was about testing people's openness to strangers. We made a card game with social challenges such as 'Give a high five to five people you don't know'. This was an evening filled with brief moments of connection. What we learned? People are willing to connect, if there is a trigger to do so.
This experiment was about testing people's willingness to try something new. We made a setup with a speaker and tablet, where everyone was allowed to add one song to the queue. This resulted in an afternoon filled with playing people's favorite music. We learned that all kinds of people are open to trying something new!
